Founders: Deborah Quibell & Hector Ramos

Classes offered: Most of Sacred Thread Yoga's classes are 90-minute vinyasa (flow) yoga classes, with 75 minutes dedicated to centering and the physical practice, and 15 minutes at the end for breath-work and seated meditation.  Sacred Thread also offers a Restorative/Yin class on Friday evenings to melt and revive after a long week, as well as a Prenatal series for mothers-to-be!

What makes it unique and why you should try it: Sacred Thread's teachers work as a community, geared towards providing students the opportunity to not only explore various yogic practices, but to have consistent exposure to them, fostering a deeper understanding and experience.  Classes are structured to establish physical vitality, strength, endurance, and flexibility but also to allow students to study and deepen their practice of pranayama (breathwork) and meditation.

Sacred Thread Yoga is passionate about all of the Limbs of Yoga and is committed to offering an introduction and exploration of these to its students.   They are also deeply moved by Mantra and Kirtan and offer several workshops. Thursday evenings are also special at Sacred Thread - each week they offer an art or performance experience - ranging from kirtan to dance to movie night, or Satsang (a gathering of community to study and discuss the philosophies and teachings of Yoga).

In addition to a beautiful yoga studio, their space is also a gathering place for art with their walls graced with stunning images that stir one's soul.  They currently are featuring, "Gateways" by Hector S. Ramos: A Collection of Fine Art Photography.

Advice for first-timers: Bring an open heart, explore from the inside-out, be patient and remember that Yoga is a Practice.

Deborah & Hector's favorite things to do in Atlanta: Walking the BeltLine (access directly behind Sacred Thread's studio) and going to one of Atlanta's many weekend street festivals!
