GoRecess Studio Spotlight: Barefoot Sanctuary; Las Vegas, NV

11.19.2012

Classes offered: Barefoot Sanctuary offers beginner, vinyasa flow, kundalini, meditation, handstand, and belly dance classes.  Their signature class is Expressive Yoga, a beginner-friendly, hatha-based practice with an emphasis on sounding the breath while exploring serpentine asana flow and creative movement.

What makes it unique and why you should try it: With two locations in Whole Foods Market - one in Summerlin and one in Town Square - Barefoot Sanctuary offers a community vibe that attracts a wide variety of students.  They chat before class and enjoy food and drinks from Whole Foods after class. Some students even meet for other activities outside of the studio – watching movies, going to shows, or trying slacklining and pole fitness! New students are always welcome and they welcome anyone who wants to try yoga and make new friends!

Advice for first-timers: Their studios are located inside of Whole Foods Market, but don’t be put off by the store – the studio spaces are welcoming and ready for movement and bliss!  Wear comfortable clothes and enjoy yourself.

Favorite things to do in Las Vegas:  Hiking in Red Rock.

Did you know? Studio owners, Alvin Tam and Jada Fire, have traveled all around the world and just returned from Zambia! Alvin created International Handstand Day (celebrated late June or early July) and is a member of the Las Vegas Search and Rescue team. Jada is a prolific artist and her artwork graces the walls of the Town Square studio. She also debuted her Ancient Animal Wisdom Oracle Cards this fall and has been doing card readings ever since! Instructors have a variety of backgrounds, including a graduate of The Second City Conservatory Chicago, a reiki practitioner, and a professional ice skater.  Get to know this team in (and out) of the studio and book a class at Town Square or Summerlin today!
